Get to know what the Coleman SportCat PerfecTemp brings and whether it can take the heat of the competition.
If you’re looking into getting a propane heater (which is the recommended alternative to a battery operated heater we’ve mentioned in a previous article) to use when camping, the Coleman SportCat PerfecTemp comes at a very interesting solution, both in price and use.
The premise is simple: it’s a model that’s cheaper, smaller and that can be used in small spaces. With that, it does a great job, but can it hold the heat that the competition brings?
Battery Operated Heater Specifications
This model my Coleman was designed for camping and for campers and in that line of though it’s a great product that can deliver a product that is able to last for 1500 with a single propane tank, which is a considerably less than the Mr. Heater alternative.
It’s in the portability department that the model really shines. It’s made to be carried around and the design is compact, but very stable. One cool thing about it is that it has an extra base that’s detachable and will allow you to get it stable where some other models would be one touch away from falling.
The handle is comfortable and the five year warranty shows the faith from the company in the product in how well it works.
Battery Operated Heater – Coleman SportCat PerfecTemp Review
So, is the model worth it? While it’s a much cheaper alternative, that decreased price comes with a cost that many will deem to be too high: the heat you’ll get out of it is considerably less when compared to other models.
Even when testing in a relatively small tent we found that it was hard to keep it warm even with the heater working for a long period of time. The detachable base is actually a great idea and it’ll keep you from having many headaches as the product will not fall down easily and you’ll be able to keep it in sloped or irregular surfaces. Really handy.
The best thing about it is how easy it is to carry around and how light it is. You won’t have any problems in carrying it around even for relatively long distances (which sometimes you have when camping) and you’ll have it up and running in no time.
One thing we didn’t mention is that this is a model that’s ready to be used in small places. While it doesn’t have the safety tech of the Mr. Heater model, the fact that it’s flame less keeps it.
Overall, if you’re expecting a lot of heat out of it, you should consider some other options, but if you want to warm a really small space (or something to heat your hands or feet) this can very well be the right choice for you. It’s really up to your needs.
